On March 21, 2024, we reported, “ATTORNEY THAT PLOTTED WITH FBI AGAINST TRUMP IN 1ST DEGREE MURDER CASE IS OUT, BUT… (JUDGE DENIES NEELY BLANCHARD TIME TO FIND EFFECTIVE COUNSEL BEFORE APRIL 15 JURY SELECTION)“.
On March 21, 2024, a hearing was held in the First-Degree Murder case of STATE OF FLORIDA vs. NEELY PETRIE BLANCHRD.
During the hearing, Administrative Judge Lisa Herndon GRANTED a MOTION TO WITHDRAW filed by Attorney Jack Maro (after his client Neely Petrie Blanchard terminated him). Blanchard requested Judge Herndon grant her a continuance to seek new “effective assistance of counsel” but Herndon DENIED her request. The denial leaves Blanchard 3-1/2 weeks to find an attorney or go into a 1st Degree Murder trial carrying the Death Penalty alone.
Documents filed with Marion County Clerk of Court and Comptroller Gregory C. Harrell that appear on the government website show that on March 21, 2024, in the column called Doc#, Document #266 was entered into the Register of Actions. The Document was filed under “Action Date” of November 16, 2020 (the day after the Hallett murder). However, there exists NO DOCUMENT. The Action was taken on March 21, 2024, and backdated 3-1/2 years.
Document #266 pertains to the assignment of Assistant State’s Attorney Amy Beth Berndt to the case. The entry creates the appearance that Berndt was assigned on November 16, 2020. However, Document #266 was created on March 21, 2024.
Berndt is the attorney that filed the Indictment against Blanchard. INDICTMENT SIGNED BY BERNDT AGAINST BLANCHARD
